The similarities I have are actually the same. I am known as a people person. I do listen to others and follow the platinum rule; however I do not get the same response back I return by others at times. If you were to acknowledge or know me you would say the same. The best way to improve communication is to identify what needs to be communicated, establish an organizational culture of opened doors, collaborative sharing and giving support.

This was a gift given to me on my last day of student teaching in Leesburg, Ga by the students and my master teacher in May of 2010. I treasure this gift because it reminds me of the passion and the ambition they felt for me.

ReplyDeleteBased on the results of the assessment, my listening style fell in the people-oriented category. I found this to be interesting because people from this group according to this assessment tend to lack judgment of others because they are very trusting. Ten years ago, this may have been the case with me, but due to several experiences that have been added to my schema, this is no longer the case. What are your thoughts about this as you stated that you are a people person too?

ReplyDeleteAs you stated it is not a good feeling when you give your all to people particularly a listening ear, and they do not respond in that way to you. However, I believe that is a part of being a people person, you have the opportunity to meet all different types of people and they all have different methods of listening and communicating. In today's society there are some extreme barriers to communicating such as txt msgs, and social media which often gives people a platform to voice their thoughts without being face to face. As you stated the best way to improve communication is establish protocol of how that will be done, and what is beneficial for both parties.
